Kajiado County is primarily a pastoralist community with its expansive landscape of hills, grasslands, and forests that supports numerous herds of wildlife and domesticated animals. KCNRN works with the region’s pastoralists and ranch owners to introduce and implement new rangeland management tools and strategies that help restore land health while promoting livestock health.
The rangeland program seeks to build an environment where wildlife conservation and livestock rearing can co-exist for the benefit of the community. Training and capacity-building initiatives are used to support this program touching on various aspects such as fodder production strategies during the dry months, livestock vaccination initiatives, and livestock security strategies.
